Who We Are

About Jack and the Crew

We Stand For What We Stand On.

We started Jack Burns Ghost as a way to show our love for the outdoors and wilderness. Jack spent his formative years in the woods and grew up with a love for empty spaces.  After living in New Mexico and spending our time freely traveling about the Four Corners region, Jack started making designs for himself and a few friends.

This quickly turned into a business when his designs started selling by the thousands on Redbubble. Jack started printing his own handmade custom screen printed shirts selling them locally and on Etsy. He still prints all of our limited edition shirts in his 160 square foot micro studio.

We try to remain as environmentally friendly as possible while still maintaining a quality product. Whenever we have a choice to do better by the world and the product is of better quality you can trust that we will make the right choice. We strive to be ZERO WASTE business. This is why we make your products when you order them.

We are a family run small business. We believe in small businesses and we hope you do too.

We are currently located next to the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia's beautiful Shenandoah Valley about five minutes from the Appalachian Trail and Shenandoah National Park.  When we are not printing limited editions or creating new designs you can often find us in the desert Southwest, the mountains of New Hampshire, or we are on the road looking for new places to fall in love with.

Giving Back

As part of our business we make yearly contributions to worthy outdoor and educational endeavors. These have included the National Park Service, the Sierra Club, and various children's museums who sponsor outdoor education. MORE IMPORTANTLY we donate our time to worthy causes. We donate countless hours to organizations who we feel are making the world a better place. Jack spends countless hours out on the local established trails, with chainsaw and shovel in hand, clearing the way for others to enjoy the wilderness.

Many businesses will tell you that they will plant a tree every time you order or make a donation to a worthy cause. We decided to charge you less for a quality product and let you make that decision for yourself.

Want to make a difference? Get out there and lend a hand! Find a local trail club, or a local animal or wilderness protection agency. Put some gloves on and get dirty.

Or donate to one of these worthy causes:

National Park Service

Sierra Club

Environmental Defense Fund

The Nature Conservancy

The National Resources Defense Council

American Rivers

The Trust For Public Land

Design Philosophy

We have countless years designing, photographing, and creating here at JBG. We love what we do and we do what we love. We are artists, teachers, and lovers of design. We are inspired by the rich history of the last century of art and try to create styles that reflect that history. Our designs are constantly evolving and changing from year to year and we hope you find something that you love.

Do you have a retail location?

Currently we do not have a retail location, although it is a dream for the future! We would love to bring more people in to our small town here in the Shenandoah Valley and see your smiling faces. We also sell many of our designs on Redbubble and have for years. We have 1000's of sales over there and if you feel more comfortable buying our designs there we are happy either way!

What? No Social Media Accounts?

We know what you are thinking. How do you run a business with no social media accounts? Isn't this the 21st century? Is this a legit business? But I want to like you on Facebook? Can't I bash you on Twitter? I really want to subscribe to your YouTube channel....

Let's break it down for you and hopefully answer your questions.

  1. We do have an Instagram account, but we spend very little time on it.
  2. Social media accounts have become a hot bed of bullying and negativity. We do not have time for that.
  3. We like to spend our time creating rather than updating Snap, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Friendster, TikTok, etc, etc, etc. I know some of you are now wondering what Friendster was. See? You learned something new today.
  4. Our focus is and always will be on the product, not on the promotion of a perceived lifestyle only available through your local Instagram influencer. We don't have time for that. Live your own life and enjoy it!
  5. As avid users of social media in the past, most of us were hard pressed to find any real value in all of the time we spent on various platforms. We would rather be outside - where you should be - right now.
  6. Please read the research being done on this subject. Millennials and younger generations are stressed to the point of breaking. It is no wonder considering many people spend upward of 30-40 hours a week on a device. That is a full time job my friends. We already have one - making clothing and designs for you.

If you still can't fathom this idea or you think we are just plain crazy, it's OK. We understand. Maybe we are. You can always hashtag our product if you really want to.
